Tale of the Two Angry Rivers | Abandoned Treasures of Oguta Lake || BlessynKure

Blessyn Kure

The famous Oguta Lake is located in Oguta town, Imo State, South Eastern Nigeria.
At 8.05 km length and 2.41 km width , it is the largest natural lake in Imo State and the entire South Eastern region.
The lake was one of the first territories the British used to advance into the Eastern region.

Tales from the locals have it that the two rivers Urashi and Ogbude that flow from Njaba through Aju and Awbana are male and female.
It is said that they were once married and after a quarrel ensued the greenish water "Ogbude" and the brownish water "Urashi" separated never to mix again.

Over the years, indigenes have adopted the worship of the two rivers as their god and goddess with shrines erected in honour of each on both sides of the banks.

Despite seeing thousands of tourists troop to behold these angry river yearly, its sad to see that this tourist attraction is now a treasure abandoned.

The Lake in Reith - also known as the 'Blue Eye of Reith“ is situated in the village centre and is the ideal place to cool off after mountain bike tours, hikes or walks.

Apart from the 8m deep lake, other infrastructure points in the 100 ha large area are a large sunbathing lawn, children’s play area, paddling pond, diving board, changing cubicles and a snack kiosk. Dogs are not permitted.

From the exotic cars to the elegant body works, the smell of screeching tires to the vroom vroom noise, drifting was everything and more! I had absolute fun and would totally recommend it. A 40-acre picturesque setting with magnificent views, Almat farms was breathtaking (literally)! Given the hype and stellar reviews, I made it a point to include Almat farms on my bucket list, a decision I am thrilled to have made.

So one bright and sunny day, my friends and I set off for the acclaimed farm. Needless to say, we had the time of our lives. There is hardly any downside to the Agro-styled tourist outlet save for the steep price tags. GATE FEE was 5000 naira for adults!

The piece de resistance for me was the quad biking activity I have longed to do for the longest time. We also saw some exotic animals, went on an intriguing guided tour and spent some time in the stables.

It is a great pick for picnics and staycations. And oh, it’s a very Instagram-able spot, so you bet I took loads of “fire” pictures. If you haven’t visited or are considering visiting Almat farms, this is your cue to hit the road!

There are very few people in Abuja who haven’t heard about or visited Almat farms! But does it live up to its hype? Absolutely Yess! I was thrilled to know that the lush farm offered quad bike rides, a sport that has been on my bucket list for ages. #Bucketlist #QuadBIKE #Abuja #Nigeria #Travel

Though the drive to the farm was incredibly longggggg, it was worth every second spent! The scenery itself was something out of a fairytale. To say the farm is beautiful is an understatement. No matter how stressed you are, once you step into this agro-styled resort, you will feel instantly relaxed.

Forever team adrenaline, so I relished every bit of the quad experience. As the wind swept through my hair and my pulse quickened, my heart screamed with undiluted excitement. There is no clear-cut way to define the feeling, as it is better imagined than experienced. Nonetheless, I believe this vlog did some justice to the feelings, sights and sounds! And oh, the activities on Almat farms are not for the financially weak. Ensure your pockets are deep enough to avoid the dreaded encounter with SAPA.
