Participating in Caribou Digital and Mastercard Foundation's research on "Women in the platform economy" #PlatformLivelihoods was a wholesome experience.
As a #VoiceArtist and #Storyteller using new media and numerous digital platforms for years has allowed me to share my talent with the rest of the world, all from the comfort of my studio.

The study discusses the challenges and successes of women working, trading, selling and engaging on digital platforms and social media in Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria through an empowerment lens.

The Africa Alpbach Network(AAN) is a pan-African alumni network of the #European Forum Alpbach #EFA. It provides a neutral and non-partisan space for young African intellectuals to engage in critical and problem-solving dialogue that reflects the needs and aspirations of the African continent.

In partnership with the Bosch Alumni Network, AAN is back with the 2nd edition of the Africa Alpbach Virtual Summit 2022 #AAVS22. This event is a three-day online conference with the theme, The Great Reset: Unpacking Africa’s New Normal.

It provides an avenue for participants to collaboratively develop their perspectives on regional and global issues, connect with policy experts and network with colleagues within the continent and in the diaspora.

The event will include two (2) plenaries and three (3) breakout sessions. We have an amazing guest speaker lineup!

Some of the key topics to be discussed include:

Resetting African Economies
Resetting the Agenda:
The Politics of Travel Bans and Maintaining Africa’s Agency
Remote Work as a pathway to Global Mobility for African Youth

Over the years I have witnessed ethno-religious -political killings in Nigeria, it never made me love Nigeria any less but it has been more traumatising than I'll ever let on.
This is a poem of fears from the ethno - religious -political killings  plaguing the nation and turning homes to battlefields.

I can recall numerous instances that I missed tragedy by seconds and I am not alone , there are thousands of other people scattered around Nigeria who have witnessed this, all nursing different degrees of trauma and suppressing it the best they can since life must go on.

I may not have the solution but first let me acquint you to a few emotions that has become constant to those living in highly volatile regions of the country ,maybe if I bare it all more people will understand that it is beyond a hashtag.
All lives matter, every religion matters, all tribes matter, all political parties matter and police brutality needs to end.

I did not write this piece down neither did I rehearse it, I voiced it from a place I hope I get better at coping with... I hope it gives you the healing it gave me.

I have experienced the pain and grief that accompanies losing a loved one countless times and have also watched people struggle through same, but never have I had to watch a family bury their 17-year-old daughter who committed suicide by consuming pesticide. The excruciating pain the family experienced, continued to linger long after she had been laid to rest and the wailing had ended. She and many others like her are the inspiration behind this piece.
Suicide is a worldwide occurrence that affects people of all nationalities, cultures, religions, genders and societal status. Globally, one person commits suicide every 40 seconds, which translates to an estimated 800,000 suicides yearly with about 79% of these deaths occurring in low and medium-income countries like Nigeria. In 2016, a WHO report showed that Nigeria had an aged standardized suicide rate of 17.3% per 100,000 people.
