Growing up as a girl in Northern Nigeria exposed Blessing to the inconsistencies surrounding girls' and women's rights, interfaith, and intercultural biases, and the multifaceted challenges stemming from stringent laws that had wide-ranging implications for the rights, freedoms and life chances of girls and women like her.

Although storytelling is not a substitute for action, she believes it has the power to spread inclusive and empowering messages, create ‘glocal’ solutions to challenges, rebuild communities, and foster unity toward shared developmental goals.
